Michael Snedic – Lowepro Ambassador
"Being out in nature with my camera is an absolute pleasure. It's not necessarily the end result that's the most important thing to me, but the actual journey itself."
Michael Snedic is one of Australia's most accomplished and published nature photographers. His photos have appeared in museums, on billboards, in books, magazines, diaries and calendars both here in Australia and overseas. He is a regular feature writer on wildlife and wildlife/nature photography for various magazines including Australian Photography, Wildlife Australia, Wingspan (soon to be rebranded Birdlife), Australian Geographic as well as the world's most prestigious wildlife magazine, BBC Wildlife.
Michael's wildlife and nature images have graced the covers of numerous DVDs, CDs, books and magazines. He has published two books, the latter a 200-page coffee table book Wildlife of Australia – a nature photographer's journey. In 2010 a selection of Michael's best wildlife images were exhibited at The Wilderness Gallery, Australia's most prestigious nature photographic gallery, in Cradle Mountain, Tasmania.
As a presenter at photography clubs and photography conventions, Michael delivers passionate and inspirational audio visuals. He has also appeared a number of times on TV, including Seven's lifestyle program The Great South East and Nine's former lifestyle program Weekend Extra.
Michael spent some years assisting nature and wildlife documentary-makers in various wilderness locations across Australia. These included NHK (Japan), IMAX, and Michael's childhood hero, Sir David Attenborough, who he still cites as an inspiration. Michael was privileged to assist him on a documentary on bowerbirds in the World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park in south-east Queensland.
As co-owner of Trekabout Photography Workshops, Michael presents workshops ranging in duration from half a day to a week. These are conducted in stunning natural settings in south-east Queensland, the Red Centre, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island, with more locations being planned.
